This site contains simple instructions for navigating the new CIAT IT setup. It is not meant as an exhaustive guide, rather a go-to place to lookup the mundane day-to-day ... and maybe not so day-to-day things which you may need guidance on.

Background / Transition

On Wednesday 29th September 2021 CIAT are transitioning to a new entirely cloud-based IT setup. This means that the CIAT computers (we'll call them desktops from now on) which used to be sitting in the CIAT office have been replaced with cloud-based desktops which you can access with a simple client on your CIAT laptop. In addition, all the servers, databases etc. have also been transitioned to this new environment and are available from your new desktop.

UPDATE

There has been a delay with provisioning some of the new desktops, we hope to get this resolved during the day of Thursday 30th. Please be patient if you have not received your email, it is likely that your new desktop is not quite ready yet.

Your new desktop will be delivered via Amazon Workspaces

The new environment should be faster, more reliable and require less IT support, hopefully meaning that you can get on with your work and spend less time on IT issues.

As with all IT changes, there are bound to be a few niggles which need ironing out - please bear with us while we get everything working smoothly, your patience is appreciated!
